An online social networking site for the 60+ crowd.
An online social networking site for the 60+ crowd.
Idea Description
As the somewhat computer literate and internet savvy baby boomer generation grows older and retires they will spend more time at home isolated from human interactions. Why not create a site that targets them and creates an opportunity for them to get online and connect with others? Older folks will spend more and more time at home and given their internet and computer skills they will spend time online looking for ways to connect. Current sites alienate them with youth-targeted advertising. An online space for their demographic is necessary and inevitable!

That idea didn't work for eons.com. Read about.
As a "somewhat" internet savvy baby boomer I think this is a terrific idea that will have broad appeal. Thanks for thinking of us! :-)
Sounds like a great idea, please vote for my idea, and you may want to look into a site called Eons, which was intended for 50+. Please reciprocate the vote and comment for my idea. Thank you!
Great idea. My only comment is that I'm not sure the assumption that the 60+ generation is internet savvy is accurate, even with the "somewhat" caveat. It's not insurmountable, though - marketing not just Oldster but the internet in general could be part of your business plan, etc. I think there is a perception that the internet in general and not just social networking is "youth targeted." Just rambling. Good luck!
