Designed for kids, perfect for the kid at heart!
Play Food Café provides a fun, accepting, playful environment for customers and an encouraging and fun environment for our staff while sharing the joy of good food, good friends and lively children.
We offer yummy, wholesome, organic or sustainably-produced food to children and the big people who love them in order to encourage healthy eating and family and community connectedness.
Our mission is to encourage healthy choices, family togetherness and community connectedness.
The idea can be franchised or recreated in other locations.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
1. We need to show potential investors that we are serious by bringing our own financial investment to the table. We have a great idea, great training (past experience and a restaurant seminar specific to our idea) and are willing to put in the sweat equity and time. We just don't have the MONEY! So, this would be part of our seed money to get things going and help when talking with investors.
2. Secure our location and continue with buying our equipment and starting our dream!

I am doing something just like this- if you want to start in a small way, find a church or school and rent their kitchen once or twice a week. You wouldn't believe how many professional kitches there are for low rent.
I agree with the first comment about starting in a church or school. You also might do well to share a space with an existing restaurant and have the cafe only open at the times they are not open. For instance, many restaurants do not open until after 2 or 3PM, pitch your idea to a few restaurants like that and solicit their collaboration. They'll appreciate the extra revenue from a joint venture, as well as extra exposure within the community. If this were my idea, my initial target market would be WAHP's (work at home parents) because they're always looking for a fresh, clean, and safe place to have play dates with their kids.
P.S. I would love to find a place like this near my home...I don't really feel comfortable going to Starbuck's, and McDonald's is starting to get "played out", if you know what I mean. -D
