Remodeling Rescue: Help victims of contractor fraud or incompetent workmanship by providing subsidized remodeling solutions
Idea Description
Remodeling Rescue was founded in 2007 to: Provide subsidized remodeling solutions to families demonstrating a financial hardship as a result of contractor fraud, incompetent workmanship or a life changing event.
We receive requests for help regularly and strive to be in a position to help every qualified applicant. To that end, our goal is to get the needed work completed and get the family back into a safe and sound home.
Remodeling Rescue will be funded by donations and grant money that will enable us to support our mission, achieve our goals and realize our vision of Remodeling Rescue being a national non-profit with regional chapters helping people throughout the USA.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
Any money received goes directly to furthering our mission and helping more families get back on their feet and in their homes.
Our current needs are:
1) Secure federal non-profit 501(c)(3) status
2) Refine the screening process for requests for help to ensure it is unbiased and efficient
3) Work with professional fundraisers so we are fully funded and able to help ALL qualified families
4) Enhance www.remodelingrescue.org to:
- Allow victims to apply on-line
- Provide a reference section with links to provide additional help for victims
- Receive monetary donations
- Provide a section for materials and labor donors to register

This is a terrific initiative. After 14 years of unacceptable work on my home by contractors, I wish I were physically closer to Remodeling Rescue in order to take advantage of their services.
This really is a great idea! This could also work for any sort of contractor. Please check out and vote/comment for my idea as well. Best of luck with this idea, and hopefully it will come out!
If you are the victim of contractor fraud or know of someone who is, please refer them to www.remodelingrescue.org so that they can reach out to us.
Remodeling Rescue is able to succeed because of the generosity of the remodeling community. The honest and hardworking men and women who are donating their time to help their neighbor. Thank you!

This is a wonderful idea. I pray that this works for you and those who are in need as myself. Single mother of two girls with MS acquiring a 40+ yr old house with original everything and no one to help when things break. It's hard and trying more then what you want it to be. Go all the way, because with this idea you will make someones day!
We have been swamped with requests for help and are in the process of evaluating each case to determine which ones qualify for our help. It is very satisfying knowing that we will be making a difference for the families that ultimately will be helping. Our intention is to build Remodeling Rescue into a national non profit so that we can help families across the country.

With so many people requesting your help, that indicates the great need existing out there for your services. Remodeling Rescue is bound to succeed -because of your sincerity and caring! You'll make it happen!!
I sincerely believe that "REMODELING RESCUE" is a concept that should have been initiated many years ago. It is simply a most wonderful initiative and should be applauded for the GOOD it will be doing for many unfortunate homeowners. I sympathize with the thoughts of "HUYNO" However, there are MANY, MANY more homeowners HURT than the honest contractor who faces the rath of a lying, cheating homeowner. The two negative actions are totally despicablle but it is the unfortunate lied to homeowner who is hurt many, many more times by the unscrupulous contractor. Good Luck on your venture.
Thank you for your thoughtful comment. You raise an interesting point regarding the amount of homeowners taken by the crooks of an otherwise very upstanding profession. The public needs to remember that the dishonest contractors are very much the minority, but the damage the do and the press they get seems to keep them at center stage. The success of Remodeling Rescue is tied in large part to the good deeds of the honest and hardworking profressionals who donate their timer and services to help each family recover from being victimized.
I am very proud to be the father of the founder of "REMODELING RESCUE", David Hollander. His MISSION, to bring some joy into the hearts of scammed homeowners---cheated by unscrupulous contractors, almost has the esence of a religious endeavor in that it attempts to right wrongs thus bringing peace and justice to the homeowner that is in desperate need of this peace and joy. Thank God that most contractors are honest and hard working people, nevertheless, it's always the bad news that make the news. David, I wish you only the very best in this, your endeavor. God Bless you for even thinking of your concept and having the gumption to follow through with all the actions you have initiated to date. I love you dearly and am very proud to know you, my son Dad.
Good luck! I know how Helpful and postive You Both Are. Keep up the good work and the great Ideas.
Thank you to everyone who has been voting. Every vote counts and every vote brings us closer to helping more victims of contractor fraud to get their homes back!
Good luck, David. Your organization offers hope to people who have had their dreams of a beautiful. "healthy" home shattered by unethical people. I hope your organization wins. Francesca
It's a shame that a project like this is necessary, but this is a wonderful thing that you've put together and hopefully it will help to restore faith and trust in the contracting buisness. Let's hope that more people become aware of this venture and that some day less people will actually be in need of it. May all the unscrupulous contractors be driven out of buisnes and the honest ones like yourself thrive. Best of luck and keep up the good work ! Billyd
The very first Remodeling Rescue project came to the aid of a homeowner couple in Bucks County PA who were victimized by John and Joe Salvatico. These unscrupulous contractors perpetrated a scam which resulted in a loss of over $130,000 to the homeowners. The Salvatico brothers don't seem to care about the needless grief, pain and anguish which they have inflicted upon the families of the homeowners they defrauded. This is especially true of John Salvatico who already had 3 prior felony convictions. God bless David Hollander. You are doing a wonderful thing. Good luck with your Remodeling Rescue efforts.
very good idea, hope you people could extend to africa that needs it
