Guns Down: Pop / Hip Hop Campaign
Guns Down: Pop / Hip Hop Campaign
Idea Description
My non-profit hip hop organization would like to start a "Guns Down" campaign that aims to make gun violence as corny and "un-cool" as MC Hammer pants. Frontlynaz Inc., pronounced "Frontliners", is a young non-profit organization dedicated to motivating and positively influencing teens/young adults through hip hop music and public speaking. We want to dramatically change the current definition of "hip hop coolness". Our organization seeks to motivate today's pop culture generation and not stifle it with ignorant propaganda that you see in today's media industry.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
Next steps:
- Network with officials that share our vision in the Tri-state area
- Promote the "Guns Down" campaign message in a viral way (Video, T-shirts, etc.)
- Work with local police departments to develop local programs and provide them with material
- Work with Boys & Girl Club and develop programs that educate their kids
- School Tour: Develop creative and stimulating presentations and materials for schools
- Promote through radio and the web with creative ads
- Host a concert tour and invite other bands and groups that promote a similar message
Vote for it now.

As a young Black man who was once an aspiring artist, this really resonates with me.
Its a great vision, and very timely in light of the fact that the leading cause of death for many of our youth will be other youth.
How wide are you aspiring to reach with your influence?
Have you been able to reach out to local artists in your area to get support?
Have you considered reaching out to national artists?
I'm not sure how far along on your journey you are, but if there is any way I can provide assistance or guidance, please contact me @ legacyman@legconsol.com.
