Idea Description
Instead of putting solar panels on each roof we can create a community of investors who can together build a small scale solar or wind powered plant near their house or large scale plants near their city.
In return every investor gets his slice of power for the life of the project. A 5 kw home PV system costs you 45,000$ and can produce maximum of 10,000 kwh per year. The same amount of electricity can be achieved with this model (by using wind) for 9,000$. i.e. 20% of original cost.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
Implement the idea by talking to a Bank and local Utility company.

Interesting idea, but I think you need to do more research and have a clearer explanation of what you'd do with $10K. Identify some possible communities where your idea could be implemented, and have more specifics about energy gained vs. payback.
A cooperative venture approach might be more interesting, because people can clearly see the "investment" they are making.
