Grow Greenloop! Fashion as a Vehicle for Environmentalism.
Green Life. Green Style. Greenloop is a retail company providing the opportunity to do good with out sacrificing your sense of style, by providing sustainable fashion made by conscientious companies who are committed to environmental stewardship and social responsibility.
Idea Description
Greenloop (www.thegreenloop.com) was launched by me (creatively self-financed) in 2004 as an exercise in market based environmentalism. The intention: to use fashion as a vehicle for environmental responsibility. The method: bringing fashionable, sustainable apparel and accessories together in one place to set as an example of sustainable style in action. Result: Since Greenloop's inception 2004, sales have grown by 50-150% annually. I have supported designers committed to sustainable fashion, gained media attention for them and us, provided a one-stop shopping resource for customers seeking green fashion and developed a following in the eco-fashion arena.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
It is my intention to add an expansive educational database for consumers, to work closely with designers and certification groups to set standards for what constitutes "green" or "eco-friendly" apparel and accessories, and to continue to bring awareness to the issues, to support to designers doing business in a responsible manner and to be the premier shopping destination for sustainable fashion and accessories, from couture to casual, high end to very affordable. The company needs funds to develop the database, invest in more inventory, hire more staff and market the company in more diverse spaces to grow it to the level where it is bankable to traditional investment.
Vote for it now.

Q1: 1. Funding
2. Remaining competitive in the face of "big business" entering the eco-fashion space.
3. Human capital - enough good people to do the work and enough money to pay them.

Great idea Aysia, keep pushing forward!
Hi, I'm actually interested in this. How does one get involved? I weave my own fabric, sew and design my own clothing, as well as knit fabrics. I also am starting my own boutique online. I'm curious to hear more. Thanks, inspector_wendy
