Green Car Dealership and Fuel Station
Green Car Dealership and Fuel Station
Idea Description
For $500 diesel engines can be converted to burn used vegetable oils that are disposed of by restaurants and produce zero carbon emissions. The oil must be filtered however, making it inconvenient for the average consumer. Keep in mind, diesel may still be used after the conversion. I envision a car dealership with converted models for sale and a fueling station. A tank truck would collect used oil from local restaurants at little or no cost, filter it and make it available for sale on the premises. This is a closed loop market...car buyers become regular fuel buyers (and happy to be making a difference).

Q1: Challenge is mostly capital.

In response to advise and comments: Yes, converted engines can still accept conventional fuels which is an important component. There is plenty of vegetable oil in most towns that would supply a small fleet of cars. Any idea starts small....should this become a viable fuel alternative and grow into an industry, not only would we see more diesel cars being produced, but large scale farms producing oil from sunflower, canola or safflower might stretch across America's farm belt.
Great idea, but there is one small problem. There is not enough waste oil produced by restaurants to fuel a large number of these cars. Great for small number of people! I was think about doing this : ]
