  migdalah, I think what you have seen at the gym and other places is a standard scrolling LED display. This idea differs from that in the basic principle. My idea uses a single line LED display, that leaves 'air floating letters' as it moves. See a sample here: http://www.juarezonline.net/led_pov.jpg for the basic idea.
  
  Some sites even show you how to make one at home ( http://blog.makezine.com/archive/2006/11/microcontroller_1.html ). My idea goes a step further and creates a commercial use for it.

  I'm not sure I understand the technical science of this project, but I can tell you that even public gyms are advertising on their walls as people pump iron and even on their stationary bikes and treadmills.
