Idea Description
The "DIY workshop" is a completely equipped workshop with wood working, welding, electronic and other tools. A person can pay per use or have a membership (gym membership model). This model would be similar Kinko's DIY printing model (they make available expensive machines to the everyday person).
Many households have the same infrequently used tools (circular saw, drill bit kits, welding, etc). Why have these at each house when you can have the best workshop at one location! As personal fabricators become available this DIY Workshop is a perfect place for this.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
Step 1- Further understand market and explore partnership with community colleges
Step 2- Start one or two "DIY workshops" in urban areas - use $10K to seek more investor capital
Step 3- Explore community and school partnerships.
Step 4- Seek partnerships with equipment makers to get equipment at reasonable prices
