  Have you looked into whether medical records can be shared unlimitedly among doctors without the patient's permission? Or would this occur on a per situation basis with the patient's permission? According to this brochure for minors, "doctors generally must obtain written permission to release medical information to someone other than the patient. This includes other doctors to whom the minor is referred."

  Also, have you checked into Google Health? It allows patients to store all of their medical records in one place and share it with specified individuals. I wonder how many people would be comfortable providing medical records to Google....

  Great idea but instead of trying to gather all medical information form countless providers. Have a database where a doctor can locate providers to get recent information. Less trouble.
