Q1: As with most small businesses , funding is a major problem. There is only so much credit that a person wants to take on and only so much credit that creditors want you to take on. (3 pieces of advice)
by SerpaDesigns04.21.08 | 04:52 PMTrue, credit is a dangerous thing.

05.16.08 | 01:35 AMTry to sell an idea to a bank (especially environment friendly one) - IDEA - they should issue a separate credit card (name ofcourse ReUse) which would be accepted only by the registered suppliers (who deal in recycle products) - and this credit card would have lower interest rate. Whats in for a bank - they can promote themselves as better corporate citizen, who thinks about the environment and would gain mileage, which would benefit their bottom line - you can involve green peace also for this - Vishal

by TOMB0005.31.08 | 08:51 PMSmall locally owned companies that believe in your idea; sell them shares in your company. They give you, say 100 dollars for however many shares, you get 100 dollars to spend, they get to reap the benefits when your company prospers.

Q2: Another challenge is trying to encourage the average person that ReUse is a great idea and can actually save them money in the long run. In general, people lead fast paced lives and only see the ease of getting a disposable cup at the coffee shop and disposable bags at the grocery store. (3 pieces of advice)
by christalann05.27.08 | 12:56 PMi think it helps when coffee shops & stores pitch in and offer a discount to those using reusable items. Overall people don't feel they can make a difference, this is ultimately what needs to change. Facing reality that what you do as one person does matter!

by putzy05.31.08 | 12:36 AMat coffee shops and grocery stores and any where else you can think of there can be like a "stay vocal" or "reuse" bins where people can put there recyclable material, plastic bags paper cups. yeah its been done many times before but hey after enough times maybe people will start getting the idea.

by seshensu06.01.08 | 01:44 PMBack in the early 70's when I moved to Cambridge, still "hippy days", I discovered recycle, reuse and co-op stores and mindsets. This expanded to "oh somebody dropped a key ring on the street...no keys. "That's cool, I could use one of those." I was making a good salary but both environment and what I exsposed myself to in reading and people pushed me forward with the simple finds and correct doings. It's become harder over the years but I think examples of finds and good doing toward green in the web site, esp. with goods you have encourage people in that direction works. It becomes a matter of pride in participating and belonging. I'd look for vignettes to include again esp. related to your reuse materials.

Q3: Currently, we primarily communicate with people through email, but getting more people to sign our mailing list is not so easy. Does anyone have any good tactics that they have found work well? (2 pieces of advice)
by erinely05.31.08 | 12:42 AMSometimes you can get people to sign up for your newsletter if you have a "give away", for instance, you can give a free ebook on recycling, or something like that, something that is relevant to what they are looking for when they come to your site. There are great ideas around this from any of there 3 companies Constant Contact,
also iContact, and CoolerEmail
you can find all three online with a google search. Are you sure you want to report as abuse?
05.31.08 | 12:34 PMset up an e-team or maybe push bands to voice your products then have a sheet at their merch table to sign up for an email list.

What advice do you have to help me grow my idea?
(11 pieces of advice)by boogieflippo05.28.08 | 02:18 PMMore investment on natural energy such as water by using the waves and wind power and oh yes we have to use less light eletricity energy by using the old fashion candle.
To me its simple cut all used of energy by half.
And the planet will be safe so that the plates of the earth will not shift etc.

Stay Vocal has managed to fuse contemporary culture with a responsible attitude towards the environment, in a manner that isn't arrogant or utterly unreasonable. I truly hope that they succeed in their business and hopefully will inspire others to help curb endless waste not only locally but globally.

very good website!
STAY VOCAL is a great organization that is taking the concept of ReUse to a whole new, very cool level. As the US struggles with a recession at the same time as trying to figure out how to be more eco-friendly, the concept of ReUse will become increasingly critical. Great job, ALex!
Stay Vocal...wonderful refreshingly radical ideas..good luck, cant wait to see whats in store for the future..
Most positive organization within the last couple years.
Stay Vocal is awesome. Their efforts to ReUse are definitely thought out and they are promoting something that needs to be a household concept.
stay vocal = radical

Ya we use and reuse his bags all the time. Barry
ok i voted!
There are many organizations that started using this idea already so the movement is ever expanding.
Stay Vocal keeps ReUse modern and hip! Thats how they keep todays generation interested and helping out!
I have no idea what I just voted on, but I hope you win it
this is great! with so many products already out there that just go to waste, think of all the big businesses out there that throw plastic away on a daily basis, including millions of people. if there were only more recycling bins. i believe if we put at least one recycling bin at each wal-mart or other local chain grocery store. or "drive-thru" recycling bins? it would help tremendously. i recently went to a radiohead concert and the shirts they sold were made out of 50 percent cotton and 50 percent polyester that were made from recycled plastic bottles. this is the most comfortable shirt i have ever owned! if more people would recycle bottles or every company used this method, it would reduce a lot of waste and improve air quality. i voted because it had the similar interests s…moreo i hope you win!

Good work man. Best of luck in bringing home the gold! :)
Really enjoyed your website. For the glass ceiling section, you may want to have a look at the women of Juarez: http://www.wola.org/index.php?&option=com_content&task=blogsection&id=6&Itemid=&topic=Violence+Against+Women&sub=1&content_topic=Juarez+Murders It's very disturbing. There are also documentaries on it, as well as a blockbuster film, Bordertown. Good luck in the competition. natalie - the earth garden project
I really love the idea of ReUse. I've been a political activist since 2003 and I'd like to get involved in something non-partisan like this. If you ever need any help with anything I live in Quincy. -Chris

What if you start collecting old furniture that folks are throwing out and build new furniture with it. I live in Boston, a college town with high rates of renting and apartment turnover and I see a lot of good wood thrown out. It would be great to reuse the old wood in new furniture. Great work - thanks for what you do!
