Idea Description

STAY VOCAL is becoming a strictly ReUse products and information company. With natural resources diminishing and so much "stuff" already made, it's imperative that people learn to reuse more.

We offer one of a kind clothing items and accessories, made from used materials. We also offer reusable shopping bags and travel mugs. We’re even looking to team up with an artist on some ReUse furniture pieces.

STAY VOCAL reuses whenever possible. When we print orders, they are printed on the back of used paper. When we ship orders, we reuse packaging and shipping materials. We’ve always stood for positive change for everyone and ReUse can bring out the most positive change for the most people.

What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?

One major next step will be to revamp our website (www.stayvocal.com) to make it much more ReUse oriented than it already is. We want to provide information and ideas on how people can easily bring ReUse into their daily lives.

Another step will be to add to the variety of ReUse products that embrace different functions, fashions, styles, and humor.

We will also continue to work closely with other like-minded organizations, artists, bands, etc. and encourage them to take on the concept of ReUse, something we have begun with numerous bands who have started selling their own ReUse T-Shirts and reusable products at their concerts.

Stay Vocal has managed to fuse contemporary culture with a responsible attitude towards the environment, in a manner that isn't arrogant or utterly unreasonable. I truly hope that they succeed in their business and hopefully will inspire others to help curb endless waste not only locally but globally.

STAY VOCAL is a great organization that is taking the concept of ReUse to a whole new, very cool level. As the US struggles with a recession at the same time as trying to figure out how to be more eco-friendly, the concept of ReUse will become increasingly critical. Great job, ALex!

Stay Vocal is awesome. Their efforts to ReUse are definitely thought out and they are promoting something that needs to be a household concept.

Questions I need advice on

Q1.
As with most small businesses , funding is a major problem. There is only so much credit that a person wants to take on and only so much credit that creditors want you to take on. Respond
Q2.
Another challenge is trying to encourage the average person that ReUse is a great idea and can actually save them money in the long run. In general, people lead fast paced lives and only see the ease of getting a disposable cup at the coffee shop and disposable bags at the grocery store. Respond

Try for government funding. Oh wait, your not a meaningless company intending to make huge profits for the exchange of poor service/products. Well, I guess you'll just have to move your factories over sea's and have small children make your products. Sorry man, I'll try ta think of a better idea. For now I'll just buy more stickers and stuff.

have you considered a combo of Reuse and University clothing products?
I would prefer to buy REUSE Penn State tshirts than regular Penn State tshirts.

Have you considered providing REUSE merchandise for special events like bar tours/special events/conferences/trade shows? That might also help you get a lot business, funding and visibility.

You may be able to generate some revenue by teaming up with a local college. I know in the Harrisburg area there is a large number of college's working on bio diesel and they have been successful with producing byproducts that can be sold in niche markets or used at the university. Most college's would be interested in giving their students real experience in sustainable product development and it might be worthwhile to utilize those university resources.

If nothing else, I am sure that touring campuses and selling your gear in the campus common or wherever students convene would be an enormous revenue generator and an easy way to gain lots of support.

I think you could also target concerned moms. Perhaps promote to local nursury schools, and get some excited built that way. If you could source some very savvy moms with lots of energy and some free time, you can turn this to a mission.

Good luck,

Michelle

Try to sell an idea to a bank (especially environment friendly one) - IDEA - they should issue a separate credit card (name ofcourse ReUse) which would be accepted only by the registered suppliers (who deal in recycle products) - and this credit card would have lower interest rate. Whats in for a bank - they can promote themselves as better corporate citizen, who thinks about the environment and would gain mileage, which would benefit their bottom line - you can involve green peace also for this - Vishal
