Idea Description

I am the CA. Director for NFPCAR (National Foster Parent Coalition for Allegation Reform)& we are a non profit online support group for families who have been falsely attacked by CPS or the Juvenile Justice System. Our support group is developing "Miranda Dog Tags" as a "safe-guard" for children that will protect them from being forced to talk to "strangers" who try to interview them without the parents present. On one side of the tag would have personal contact information and the other side would have a brief "Miranda" statement for the child to use when needed. These Dog Tags can be worn by any child and presented when cornered by strangers. Directions for proper use will be included.

What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?

If our idea wins the $10,000 prize will be deposited into our NFPCAR treasury to be used to pay for our initial "Miranda Dog Tag" order and to put our non-profit business on its feet. It will also be used to financially aide foster parents who find themselves in this unfortunate position & who need immediate help. In addition we are developing a variety of "self-help" e-books, CD's and online support for anyone who finds themselves in trouble with the system. To find out more about NFPCAR go to...www.members.aol.com/nfpcar...and find out what we are all about.

This is Nancee...of CA. NFPCAR. This idea is meant for ALL parents...children...biological, foster, adoptive or kinship care. We at NFPCAR totally AGREE that the common enemy is CHILD PROTECION SERVICES...(CPS) and we ALL need to stand together in this fight. As soon as we can get these "dog tags" manufactured and on the market they will be offered to "anyone"...not just foster families. Anyone who is interested in joining together in this fight for justice please feel free to join our NFPCAR group by going to...www.members.aol.com/nfpcar...and signing up. Our support group is FREE to anyone who wants to join and we are open to any and all parents, grandparents and kinship caretakers. Please help us achieve our goal to help protect our children and families from tmore

This idea could mean the difference between a family remaining together or separated forever. It is good for children to remain with their parents and not taken away through false accusations. Can you imagine what it would be like to lose your kids? Have them in the horrible, unfeeling System? Possibly adopted out? What a great Idea.. egypt

I believe this is a wonderful idea to protect children from the abuse and destruction of families caused by CPS. Families should remain together unless there is PROVEN abuse. Because someone has a problem with cleaning their home or because a CW has an unlike for a family member should not be a reason to remove children. Oh the stories (true) we could tell. If only the public really knew what goes on and the money involved in taking children from their loving parents.

Comment by DogpatchDaze on 05/04/08 09:45 AM

Thank you 'duckling' for your suggestion. It is our plan to include information on HOW to teach your child to use this 'tag' and suggested links for parents to check on the Internet for help, chat and advise on 'how' to deal with CPS or the Juvenile Justice System. Our NFPCAR support group is currently writing a group of e-books and pamphlets to share with anyone who is experiencing the nightmare of 'false allegations' and the potential loss of their children...and destruction of their family.

I think the world is in a sad place when we even have to consider protecting our children from school officals, social workers and police. Unfortunately that is exactly where we find ourselves. The miranda dog tags will be a great way for the general public to be educated about dangers to their families.

Comment by GranPa on 05/06/08 02:15 AM

Yes it is sad. However, the development of our laws is like a pendulum. Believe it or not, currently, Parents have NO Rights. Don't know if you realize it, there is documentation that 80% of Allegations are Proven False. Of course this is after the child has been removed. Also, the present attitude is that "If it could occur, it probably did" Just think of the emotional damage caused by this move to the child? The idea of the Miranda Dog Tag will hopefully protect the child and remind CPS that they are responsible for their actions. My vision of how the pendulum should swing is "Parents raise Families not Laws" Please think about this simple statement. Put the importance of Parents back into the Family. Most parents care for those children, and those that may not, May more

I am a victim of CPS, I think this is a wonderful idea, because they did exactly that, they went to my daughters school and interviewed her without my permission, I have been dealing with them for 3 yrs and have since lost custody of my girl...she now resides in CT with my sister..I am in cali...I get one phone and one letter a month, I really dont find that fair..her and i are soo far away what harm could it be for me to call her whenever i feel like it and to top it off..the one letter I get, CPS worker has to read before I send it out...whats wrong with this system...I know many other mothers going through similiar situations who are not involved with CPS, but in divorce battles and they are being RailRoaded as well...We need to change the system, It is sooo very CORRUPT!!!!!

Comment by Hope4KidZ on 05/06/08 07:24 PM

I know Nancee and Marilyn and can guarantee that these ladies do what they say they are going to do and this is not only for foster children or foster families. I have known Nancee for some 9 years and she KNOWS what is going on with the government's intrusion into our families. Like everyone, we learn the hard way that as parents, we do not have the right to raise our children if the government decides otherwise. This is wrong! Thanks Nancee and Marilyn for all you continue to do to help ANY parent or child.

Dear Duckling, I want you to know that your suggestion is already in motion. Our NFPCAR support group is already working on making up pamphlets and on-line E books with information for "anyone" to use if they are attacked bythe CPS or Juvenile Justice System. We invite "anyone" who is interested to join our support group...FREE of charge...to find out all about us, We are working hard to band with other groups to get the "reforms" so badly needed in this broken system. The main problem is that the average, everyday citizen refuses to believe that CPS and the Juvenile Justice System is corrupt and is slowly, silently undermining the strength of the American family...be it biological, foster, adoptive or relative kinship caretakers. These "Miranda Amore

What a great way to prepare and protect our children and families from destruction! YOU BET I support it. Not only will the children wearing these "miranda" tags benefit, but this idea is also going to be a very informative conversation piece for folks that do not know their Constitutional rights. If this "idea" saves even ONE family from the travesty and injustice that is happening all over our country, it is PRICELESS! I want to order a dozen of these to pass out to all of the children in my life that I love. Kuddos to those behind this idea. Way to go!

I sure wish I would have had these when my children were removed. It was a very horrible experience. An allegation was made against me by one of my neighbors. We had a pet cocatoo and it used to squak alot. Almost sounded like a kid screaming. So as near as I can figure, my good meaning neighbors made a report that I was beating my kids. They came into my home and questioned the kids in private. One of my little ones had fallen down while playing and had a slight bump on her head. And apparently that was enough information to removed the children. Had I known I could be present or a lawyer, things may have been different. Fortunately it didn't take a lot at the courts to get them back. Why??? The true story came out, but I was soooo mad since CPS didn't even appologize.. So no matter if yomore

Please make this applicable to all parents, whether foster or not, to provide support, as there are many, many bio families being falsely attacked. We are all on the same side when it comes to CPS and juvenile (un)justice. Another target market are homeschoolers who are being threatened with "educational abuse" for choosing to educate their children outside of public school propaganda.

It's Marilyn again. Yes, we at NFPCAR have many biological as well as adoptive parents working togther for change. We have one common enemy, CPS. They are responsible for the destruction of thousands of American families across this nation. We must unite to bring a stop to this nonsense. It is no longer about the best interests of the children but the money that is made from them. The Miranda Tags will let the children know that they have rights under the Constitution and that they have a right to a parent and/or their attorney present prior to having to speak to any STRANGER demanding to talk to them, INCLUDING CPS doesn't get any stranger than them. marilyn fpls

I agree with Solofreecin, that this idea could be of benefit by all people, bio-parents and foster/adoptive families. It is imperative that we know our rights when confronting injustice in the legal system. Our children are more precious than anything else and we need to help them see that it's not okay to willingly give up your Constitutional rights.

As a GranPa in a multi-generation family, this sounds like a super idea. My children need to be protected by the tactics used by Government Agencies to question your children, in my case grand children.

When I think of the trouble my daughter had with her life, but had the strength to give Guardianship to her children to my wife, I am so thankful that the Child Protective Services didn't get involved.

Hopefully, the use of these Miranda Rights message with my grand children, should be a very helpful tool to Protect my Grand Children from unwarented questioning from the agency.

As parents, we should protect our children, our most valuable resources, from the grips of the Government and unconstitutional questioning by them.
God Bless.

You propose a great first step. I think you should couple your product with a service of some kind. I was thinking a pamphlet or 800 number where people could educate themselves about their rights, and learn how to disseminate this knowledge to their children. I know that there are immigrant communities that host monthly meetings to discuss such matters. Maybe you could consider creating a community around the idea.

This is a WONDERFUL idea! My friend had her 8 year old daughter pulled out of class and stripped-searched for bruises on her body and questioned by the authorities. When my friend's daughter mentioned a 'brother and sister" they also pulled them out of class and did the same thing to them. My friend was not told about this by school or authorities. She found out about the "incident" a few weeks after it happened when one of the kids brought it to her attention. When she confronted school officials she was told there was nothing to worry about. They realized they had the "WRONG CHILD" once they figured out there was another child in the same school with the same first and last name who did NOT have siblings!!!! This CAN happen to YOUR CHILD too!

There are so many crimes being committed by cps and not held accountable for violating legal rights of the parents/children. There is a war being waged against the family structure by the federal government and a bounty being paid from the Social Security fund by the federal government to cps for every child they can remove from the family structure.

We forget these people are "public employees" and public servants" and "WE" the "PEOPLE" are THEIR EMPLOYERS" In CA. go to CA GOV CODES and read 820.21, this is their employment codes. If we in our work place would violate our work codes as cps does, would we be allowed to continue having a job?

Both my daughter and I are victims of the corrupt legal system and this is one way of fighting back. If the school violates the "rights" posted and allows cps to talk to the child, then that person needs to be removed from their position.

This is the greatest idea that I've seen in a long time. I know firsthand that Child Protection Services is "out of control" on a nationwide basis and daily families are being attacked and destroyed by their false allegations. Children don't know they have rights and they don't know that they don't have to talk to these people when they appear out of nowhere to interview them These Miranda tags are JUST THE THING to protect our children from these vultures. I will order several of these once they become available so I hope this idea is carried through as it is a MUCH NEEDED safeguard for our children. I'm voting here and I encourage anyone who reads this to support this cause. GOOD LUCK in your venture...and Thank you for your dedication and caring.

This is a very good idea. If you have a website, you should post the address here. If you don't have a way for people to donate through your website, you should consider signing up with paypal, its free, and create a way for people who are interested in this (I would assume every parent would be) and if each parent donated $1 to your organization, you would have more than enough to launch this even if you do not win here. I wish you luck..

This is a wonderful idea. I've had my children questioned without an adult present or lawyer. After what happened, I just wonder what would have happened, if I could have been their and/or my lawyer. I truly hope many others hope this is a good idea

We do have a site dedicated to the development of this idea. Please keep up on the development of this idea at http://rscraps.com/NFPCAR/Miranda/ . Thanks for all you many great comments and advice. Also, visit our companion Reform site at fpreform.org . Eventhough, this site was developed by Foster Parents, we are gaining many bio members who understand who the real abuser is. God Bless

Perhaps some of the funding could be used to go towards education seminars for parents as well as speaking engagements where parents could bring their children to learn more about their rights.
It would be nice to see traveling speakers go around to the different schools, however, it's possible that there would be resistance to that. So if not that, then meetings that parents could attend in the evenings with their children.

I have many wonderful Grand Children go to school. This would be a great thing to have with them. In my experience one never knows when there may be an accusation, God forbid, and leading questions asked to my children with their parents and/or a lawyer.
