Centralized Rewards Program
Centralized Rewards Program
Idea Description
I don't know about anyone else, but my wallet is sure getting crowded with all those rewards programs from large retail chains to small mom & pop shops. I've got "get buy 10 coffees and your next one is free", "for each $100 spent, get $10 off", "get 10 haircuts, your 11th is free", etc. cards. My idea is to centralize all of these onto one bar-coded card. The retailer would scan your card and your reward would automatically pop up - or your rewards would be appended with your next purchase (say my card has 5 coffees, after I purchase another the clerk scans my card when I purchase my 6th). This would be attached to an account for you you could check on the internet to keep track of all.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
With $10K I could start to build the prototype and shop it around to chains who might be interested in testing.
Vote for it now.

This is a great idea. I wonder if chains would think it is too easy. They may rely on people losing those cards at purchase #6 of 10. I love this idea.
Just to clarify - I had more envisioned a company that would manage the rewards cards and you could sign up for it online. The retailer would not be sharing personal information - they would simply scan your card which would upload to the reward card company database to either deduct/add rewards. As it is right now you could use Aunt Bee's reward card at Starbucks to get that 11th free coffee. No need to have any personal information. This is still in the thought process - good point about personal info - I just did not envision it being used in that way.
good idea
This is a great idea. One card instead of 20, doesn't matter if I go to Shaw, Stop & Shop, Borders... Let me know when this is real, I'd love to thin my wallet down.
This idea is awesome. Let me know when you make it happen!
