Money for Mankind
Money for Mankind
Idea Description
To make money from donations and sales of properties, and turn them around to put people in homes at low interest similar to Habitat for Humanity with out all the administrative fees, I have done research and for every 1.00 donated to Habitat .40 goes to administration fees, .25 goes to advertisement, Habitat is a good program but I think we can do better for the communities. Just like Extreme Home Makeover, can you imagine if the money they spend on some of these homes and donations that are given to the show how many nice but yet basic homes could be built, The show that was based in Minnetonka, Minnesota, the money they spent on that one home and show could have built 12 nice homes.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
To go to larger corps and businesses and challenge them with the 10000 to match it and show my proposal.
Vote for it now.

So, it the plan to have a habitat for humanity-like NP with lower administrative fees? I agree with you about Extreme Home Makeover.
No admin fees, it would be a true non profit, all you have to do is pay for licenses and the property to build them and follow codes, I built my house for a total of 185.00 in licensing fees
Would people volunteer to do the administrative work - find families, purchase supplies to build the house, fundraise, etc? If so, I would say that maintaining pure volunteer organizations can be difficult. Possible, but challenging. It helps to have paid positions where the person's only focus is the non-profit.
The above comment is not for non-profits in general, but specifically for a non-profit you are proposing involving ongoing house building efforts. There are a lot of non-profits that have excellent, low admin fees. Try to find some on charity navigator and see if you any models might fit what you're trying to do.
