Youniverse
Youniverse - Keeping your (web) life simple.
Idea Description
Imagine a one-stop shop for all your online needs. A place where you can check your email, Myspace/Facebook updates, latest RSS feed subscriptions, or even watch a YouTube video or two - all on one, convenient website. It's like your virtual desktop - only, it manages your online activity. There would also be some simple web-based applications available on this website, such as a simple word processor. A place will also be provided to store your web-based files, which can later be migrated to your actual desktop. The interface would be simple, elegant, and very intuitive. Surfing the internet will be easier than ever, not to mention even more fun!
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
I would begin searching for freelance programmers who would be able to take on such a large task. This would also pay for the design aspects of the website.
Vote for it now.

First, great name. Second, great idea. I think there have been a few other ideas posted on ideablob that are similar to your "Youniverse". Search around and maybe you can find some blobbers to collaborate with.
Thank you so much for the comment! I was rather excited about it because it is my first. I definitely appreciate the compliments - the name was actually just a last minute decision, it just kind of clicked! Anyway, thank you for the suggestion - a collaboration doesn't sound too bad!
I like the name, too. Keep an eye on what Apple is doing with MobilMe. http://www.apple.com/mobileme/ Your idea reminds me of desktop.com back in 2000. May be tough to create a You-nified view of the online world since it is so diverse and decentralized. Interesting.
MobileMe is definitely something worth looking into, but it's doesn't really manage your Myspace, Facebook, YouTube videos, or anything like that. Really, it looks more like their version of Microsoft Exchange, to me... something intended more for keeping all your net-capable devices in sync. Still, something worth looking at! Thanks for the tip! :D
Cool idea! I would really like to see something like this so I can do all of my net surfing from one place!
Thank you Rickerstee! I appreciate the support! :)
Great idea, great name!
Not to be a downer, but I currently use iGoogle to do something like this for free. I encourage you to do a little more research and determine what value your site is going to add above and beyond what the consumer can get from iGoogle that they would be willing to pay for (perhaps follow the video aggregator path). Great idea... keep going with it!

To me, iGoogle is more of a web-based Dashboard, or Sidebar if you're using Windows. The only real similarity I saw was the ability to track your feed subscriptions. Everything else was pretty typical - I didn't see anything for social networking. Still, something to look in to I suppose. Thanks for the suggestion! :)
Good name and one stop shopping does sound good
