Let's Get Ready For Kindergarten!
Let’s Get Ready For Kindergarten! & Let’s Get Ready For First Grade! are both award-winning, state-approved books that are used inside homes, libraries, head start programs and over 350 schools. Created by a mom who self-funded but is in need of additional funds to offer the Spanish editions.
Idea Description
Let’s Get Ready For Kindergarten! & Let’s Get Ready For First Grade! are working inside homes and schools across the nation. Thirty-eight states are discussing improving Kindergarten programs because kids are not coming to school ready for Kindergarten. The Green Bay School district has been using my books since 2004 and has attributed my books to an improvement in Kindergarten readiness and test scores.
I am in need of funds to continue the Let’s Get Ready series, develop a plush line and introduce the video version for home and school as well as help in printing costs for the highly anticipated, 2008 release of the Spanish/English edition of Let’s Get Ready For Kindergarten!
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
The $10K will allow me to release the highly anticipated Spanish/English edition of Let's Get Ready For Kindergarten! It has been translated and illustrated and is in the final editing stages, awaiting its first press run. If I win, I will add a star that reads, something like: this edition was made possible with a $10K prize from Ideablob. It will live forever on the cover of my Spanish/English edition of Let's Get Ready For Kindergarten! This book will target the English as a Second Language Students who come to school without knowing English and the families interested in their children learning Spanish as a second language.

Sounds like a great series and, as a teacher myself, I am eager to support any effective education preparation material. Is there somewhere we can go to view a preview of the series or see it in more detail?
Ms. Kannenberg did a great job on these books. They both prepare the child and the parent for the upcoming journey. They teach the parents how to teach the children by example and they offer an opportunity for parents and children to share quality time together.
Overseas children are sometimes starting their schooling at age 2-3. If children in the US aren't even ready for school at ages 5-6, we are in big trouble. I haven't read any of your books, but I'm sure (because you mentioned they are award winning) they are very helpful and every child should be exposed to them.
Great idea. I work for an eduction company and yes this idea will definitely help with early learning
I have and love the first two books in the series. My kids LOVE them more!
What is the educational value of a line of plush toys?
Great question!! The plush toys are my global characters and teachers used in my book line. I have 12 global kids so many children can find a doll that looks like them or someone they know. I made the decision to illustrate them dressed in clothes and shapes to also be used for teaching. For example, Ricardo has a red shirt with white squares on his shirt, let's count the squares or Omar has an octagon on his shirt, how many sides does an octagon have?
