"Guess the Year" music handheld game
"Guess the Year" music handheld game
Idea Description
A handheld game that plays snippets of a song and then you guess the year the song came out. You would get points for how fast you could identify the year. If you can't get it in the 30-40 second snippet, you get another song from the same year. Multiplayer mode (each player takes turns) and the ability to limit to specific decade(s).

This idea of a handheld game is old fashioned. With all of the advances in the videogame industry, a game this simple is unlikely to sell at all as a handheld device. More realistically, this could be an added feature to programs such as I-Tunes or something like that, or even cellphones, but how annoying would that be in public!
I actually considered that, and debated about the handheld concept quite a bit. I got the idea from an amalgam of 2 things ... first, a local radio station here plays a "10 at 10" every weekday. They announce the year at the beginning, once or twice during the playlist, and then, of course, at the end. I found, with my wife, that I loved "playing the game" by trying to tune in after the first announcement of the year and trying to guess the year based on the songs I was hearing before they announced it again. Then I went to a party where the host had handed out a handheld game based on a recent popular game show. The game was a big hit. I also thought about creating it as a DVD (like the Scene-It games). Thanks for the constructive comments!!
