Alcohol breathalyzers in bars
Alcohol breathalyzers in bars
Idea Description
Most bars and clubs that you go to have condom machines in the bathroom. This practice promotes personal responsibility. Why not have alcohol breathalyzer machines as well. These machines will be setup in bars for a low cost. It makes people aware of their own level of sobriety. Test market is required to see how effective this method would be at reducing accidents and DUIs. Scottsdale arizona has a cooridor of bars, lots of these bars could use these machines and it would be private and effortless for the user.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
Business plan it, have local and national organizations promote it (i.e. madd, DOT, SADD, local p.d.) and then obtain funding from angels and setup the business.
Vote for it now.

Q1: Legal issues regarding these types of machines in bars. Disclaimers would be required on the machines aknowledging the fact that this information is impermissable in courts and is only for the users benefit.
I like the idea, i think it would be a good way to prove to a friend who doesn't think they are "too drunk" to drive that they are. I can see some people using it in a macho, let see how drunk I can get way, but the benefits of the real mission defiantly out weigh the meat heads.
I would agree with huyuno but with a different perspective... I think it will be treated as a game by many: All the more reason to do it! this could even make it profitable by charging "per blow." coin operated, dispenses disposable plastic mouth piece for hygiene, etc. I think this would be pretty cool.
jmic - i'm not sure myself; however, it has prompted our local legislature in Phoenix to pass the most severe laws regarding drunk driving in the country. I would like to check on dui accidents to see why a stiffening of the laws.
people would actually use this as a drinking game. i dont think that it would be effective. good idea but the market is just too immature.
I've already seen these machines in use at Star City Casino, Sydney. But it hasn't taken off very well. I guess people who drink dont intend of driving at all and those who do will pase themselves enough not to need to use one?
I changed it from the machines being free to the machines being low cost. They will be sold to bars for wholesale prices and the company will still be nonprofit. The company should only be a facilitator of getting these machines into bars and not to profit from it.
I definitely agree with idea...it could save a life...mine!
I'd definately like to hire you as my consultant. This could be a national thing...
That sounds interesting Kerrin, i didn't know there was government grants! I was doing some research and i found absolutely NO machines that served this purpose. I found some public machines, however, those were coin operated. It looks like a whole new market just for the machines!
good idea! there are many potential business models with this idea. you could probably even get government grants for this if you present it right.
