  It's a good idea...on trend as they say. I think you can do it remotely for sure. I'd look to sites like elance and guru that allow people to post themselves from all around the world. You can hire programmers and designers from places like Estonia and S. Africa who will do solid work for a fraction of the cost. It probably takes some testing, but I'm sure you could pull a team together. By the way...saw your blog post which is how I ended up here.

  Starting remotely will offer you the best value for your investment dollar and results produced. Dealing in social networks and web properties have to be monetized in some manner. Advertising as a single pathway lends itself to more headaches than viable solutions. I'd recommend identifying those projects that establish clear revenue streams in conjunction with viable niche's to exploit or create. Good luck.

  Both. Have key people around you to encourage interaction, but as a programmer, I sometimes prefer to work in relative isolation, especially when working on a challenging task or when a deadline is near.

  To keep costs down initally, I would suggest keeping the team remote with frequent conference calls and/or video conferencing. I think the idea is an an interesting one as most inccubators are larger and more formalized and not focused on social networking. focus focus focus
