Bacon Salt (www.baconsalt.com) is a zero calorie, zero fat, vegetarian and kosher-certified seasoning that makes everything taste like real, delicious bacon. Our motto is that "Everything should taste like bacon." Bacon Salt comes in Original, Hickory and Peppered flavors, which are delicious on everything from scrambled eggs and potatoes to grilled meats and vegetables.

We've been featured in the Seattle Times, Serious Eats, Fox News, NPR, AOL Food, The Wall Street Journal, ABC Radio and several other regional and national publications in just a few months since launch.

What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?

We have received several requests from soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan, who are far away from home and away from their families in hostile territories. Apparently, it's nearly impossible to get actual bacon in either of these countries due to cultural sensitivities (we'd be surprised if there was more than a pig or two in either area). We've shipped many jars of our seasonings (which are vegetarian) to soldiers on the front lines, but have limited resources and would like to launch this as a more formal and bigger initiative.
