Idea Description
Fueled by increasing market demand for environmentally sustainable services, my idea is starting an eco-friendly lawn care service. Our firm would use industrial push-reel mowers to service lawns. These mowers require no fuel, are small, and can be hauled by small cars instead of big trucks with large ecological footprints. This venture requires very little in start up costs, resulting in the ability to price competitively. Many people, when given the option of retaining relative quality for a similar price, want to incorporate environmental sustainability into their daily life; I wish to bring his option to landscaping.
What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?
$10,000 would cover most of the initial equipment costs, such as industrial push-reel mowers and a small car fueled with bio-diesel. Leftover funds would go towards initial marketing for this venture, along with the costs incurred with incorporating and the initial costs of operation. After initial investment and growth, I hope this firm will grow and create markets for other landscape services. Compost managment (client and firm waste), could use the subsequent nutrient-rich soil to be spread into people's lawns or gardens. This service could lead to green roofing (rooftop gardens) and interior design (green walls).

I think this would be an excellent way for Push Reel mower manufacturers to get their products into the hands of the public. Maybe you could do some networking to get some marketing help from them.
