Cement applications for concrete structures are indispensable for construction of infrastructures. But the inherent universal problem of localized instability leading to break-up in concrete mass remains a serious and costly problem. Concrete structures develop open voids during the dehydration process. These voids retain water and further moisture uptake takes place during use. A simple mechanism called moisture attack creates crack formation and break-up. A patent (#6797052)has been secured for an additive that forms an adduct during cement mixing that fills the voids, ensuring complete blockage of any moisture ingress.
