Idea Description

FreezeCrowd connects people in group photos in an online album, tagging members back to tabbed profiles through "photographic memories." This circular connecting of photos to profiles, back to keywords placed on your profile is accomplished by mousing over the "FreezeCrowd" button, which identifies people in the photos. Have you ever wanted to know who the quarterback is on the football team, or what interest he has in common with you? You can also interact in the photo with speech bubble comments, chat, voice, and dropping neat objects such as gifts that are purchased with your FreezePoints. All this, photo invitation, and more, will only on found on FreezeCrowd.

What will you do if you win $10,000 for this idea?

It would be great to win, as we already have a great deal of supporters, and interested members for the site before the big launch. When we win, we will spend the $10K on our great programmers and designers. We would work on all the new ways to connect people through the site, and create a great new place for college students and alumni, and faculty/staff to network online. This prize will definitely go towards a great site, FreezeCrowd!

Comment by Babel on 01/06/08 01:31 PM

I still don't understand this concept. The purpose is to give your online photo clickable action to your profile and to allow you to add thought bubbles to your ownline photo?

Comment by ziska on 01/07/08 04:11 PM

Looks like it could be a really cool way for people to connect to their friend's friends. I like it.

Great idea. Like Second Life without the silliness - a straight group-conversation concept. If you get some funds, let me know as I own a software company working on some revolutionary social networking software.

Comment by marvjoy1 on 01/21/08 12:21 PM

Sounds good to me.

Thanks for the vote! I think I like this idea a lot, though I'm not quite sure I get it. Does it allow people to tag themselves in photos which then link back to their Facebook?

Comment by ajf200 on 02/15/08 05:34 AM

I guess this sounds interesting, and it's good you have some progress made (website is live)...but I still don't understand what it is. Can you give me an example of how I'd use this? And how is this different or better than the feature on Facebook that allows you to tag yourself in photos?

Comment by Sir_Didimus on 02/16/08 11:36 AM

I do think this is a really interesting idea that could bring together people who would not otherwise communicate. You should check out my recreational coaching idea for parents who want to coach their kid's teams but don't know a lot about the sport.

thanks for the comment. this idea supports sustainability, in other words a world that works for everybody! all types of eaters will be able to partake in the curriculum. thanks for looking out!

Comment by jdg257 on 05/05/08 11:43 AM

I highly doubt this site can stand on its own. You are directly competing with giants like facebook and myspace. How is your 'patented technology' going to make people want to use it over facebook or myspace. I don't see any explanation of the difference between your technology and facebook's. Maybe a better explanation of your idea would be better.

Comment by alramb on 05/06/08 02:27 PM

Came across the site, thought it was a great idea! Can't wait for the beta!

Comment by jlcgroup on 05/10/08 02:57 PM

Very intriguing. Aside from the consumer application, Eric has already heard that there's an equally intriguing application within the government marketplace. The concept of indexing photos and those connected to faces is very powerful. Scott was right when he said 'its all about the network'--and now its all about connecting networks to truly relational databases.... I cast my vote for FreezeCrowd

Great idea Eric! Best of luck!

Questions I need advice on

Q1.
FreezeCrowd's tagging system is patent pending, as well as its picture invitation system. We provide a "photographic memory" and capture the images beyond the tags. Our tags are more than just tagging a name, we tag a role position, we have other trade secrets within the tags as well. Respond
Q2.
FreezeCrowd means? It came from Eric, the founder when he was looking at his college freshman meet book back in 1999, he thought of an idea of linking people in crowds of three by interest, and got rid of the number three, and made it into a verb freeze. Respond
Q3.
We take tagging to a deeper meaning, and that makes us better than any other tagging system. We reward people for tagging people in the pictures as well, and people have to be on FreezeCrowd to tag. It crops, it captures the image, and emails it. Respond
Q4.
What are your thoughts on marketing the site by advertising on Adwalker billboards and co-branding the site with consumer packaged good companies or other company brands? Respond

Intereting idea, might think about filing a provisional patent and getting a skeleton site up. Could be a company or a feature that you sell to facebook...

Eric, good seeing you tonight at the Mash Meet...I think people under estimate the power of photos. I think the photo-tagging tool in Facebook is probably what made it as big as it is today. Good luck with the innovative features you bring to photos and photo-tagging!!!

I not totally getting the differentiation between FreezeCrowd and Facebook Tagging? Facebook tags photos and all the people who get tagged are notified that they were tagged.

Is this for the random people in the background of a tagged photo? If so how would they know they are in the picture if no one knows them?

jdg257, there is more to this idea than I could place in the paragraph above, yet rest assured that the idea is differentiated from other social networking sites. Our biggest value proposition is the time you'll save with networking, and the ease of use it will provide to our users.

I am not sure how your advertising plans really help you?

Doing a broad promotion that is not well targeted seems like it may be a dispersion of scarce resources. Do the targeting first and then the marketing.
