Advisor Reaches Milestone:
Fellow blobber Devin Serpa recently earned the distinction of offering 100 pieces of advice on ideablob. Devin runs Serpa Designs www.afteroilev.com, a Northern California-based industrial design company specializing in alternative fuel applications. The company's goal is to provide inexpensive electric cars via conversions and standard batteries. In addition to giving advice to over 100 lucky ideas, Devin has also posted a few of his own ideas. Maybe you can help him. And who knows? Devin might help you, too.

Past Finalists Need Your Advice:

We can only have one winner each month, but please don't forget past finalists. You can't vote for them, but they can still use your help. Here are a few we picked off the blob:

  Gramstand - A small
  tea shop in NYC
  looking to attract a
  late night crowd.

  Stephanie Phillips,
  who works with
  Bartram's Garden,
a non-profit organization providing environmental education to school children, is looking for ways to increase the Garden's outreach.

  Kerrin Russell
  from Maryland
  could use help
  developing his idea
  for a light-up pacifier.

April Winner Celebration!

We recently celebrated ideablob's April Winner - Matt Allison - at Penn State University's Smeal College of Business. (Check out this video news report):

Matt, an economics major (and entrepreneurship minor) at Penn State, is certainly making good use of his education. He's the April winner of ideablob's $10,000 competition. In fact, he's graduating soon - so he'll have time to pursue his venture. Basically, he plans to develop a heart-monitoring device for gym workouts.

So what makes it cool? Well, you can connect the device to the Web, where you have access to stats, charts and nutritional information. Click here to see his idea.

Matt has already determined how he will use the $10,000 prize. "We're putting about $7,500 into the software engineering and another $2,500 into website development," he said.

In addition to Aaron Fleishman, February's ideablob winner, Matt is the second student from Penn State to win the monthly showdown. Both Matt and Aaron learned about ideablob from their high-tech entrepreneurship professor, Khanjan Mehta. Professor Mehta lent his knowledge and expertise to the entire ideablob community as a Featured Guest Advisor earlier this month.
