A Third Boston-Area Entrepreneur Wins the National ideablob.com® Contest for Best Small Business Idea

 

Alex Eaves' idea to expand his skateboard company has won ideablob's $10,000 prize for the month of May. Eaves will use the funds to promote his company's "ReUse" products and the importance of being environmentally conscious.

 

SPRING HOUSE, Penn., (June 10, 2008) Advanta Corp. (NASDAQ: ADVNB; ADVNA) announced today that Alex Eaves of Norwell, Mass. is the May winner of ideablob.com's monthly contest for the best small business idea, as voted on by the ideablob community.

Eaves company, STAY VOCAL, began as a skateboard company focused on producing positive messages about social and environmental awareness. The company recently transitioned to focus solely on its line of ReUse products, which include clothing and accessories made from used materials, as well as being a source of information about music, news and events.

Penn State student wins $10,000 for best small business idea in national ideablob.com® contest

 

PSU student & inventor Matt Allison wins for creating a portable touch screen device that syncs with a fitness-based social networking website

 

 

Spring House, PA (May 6, 2008) - Advanta Corp. (NASDAQ: ADVNB; ADVNA) announced today that Matt Allison of State College, PA has been named April's $10,000 ideablob.com monthly contest winner for the best business idea, as voted on by the ideablob community.

 

Allison's idea is a portable touch-screen device - equipped with a heart rate monitor - that acts as a personal trainer. Once fully developed, the device will upload workouts from his company's website and display progress charts, advice for future workouts and daily nutrition information. In addition, device users will be able to create their own workouts based on their fitness goals. Allison plans to use the $10,000 contest prize to put the finishing touches on his website and to ensure it syncs properly with the touch screen device.

Penn State student Aaron Fleishman wins for Mashavu, a student project providing networked health solutions for children in third world countries.

 

 

Spring House, PA (March 12, 2008) - Advanta Corp. (NASDAQ: ADVNB; ADVNA) announced that Aaron Fleishman of State College, PA has been named February's $10,000 ideablob.com monthly contest winner for the best business idea.

 

Fleishman, a Lewistown, PA native, is a Penn State senior majoring in chemical engineering. The concept for Mashavu came from a class design project to develop a prototype cell phone-based system to help victims in disaster situations and refugee camps. To pilot the program, Fleishman and Penn State Senior Research Associate Khanjan Mehta will lead a group of 14 students to Tanzania in June.
