Chicago Entrepreneur Wins Advanta's National
ideablob.com Monthly Contest
ideablob.com community votes Tom Krieglstein's idea to develop freshman
orientation software as best business idea of the month
Spring House, PA (November 19, 2007) - Advanta Corp. (NASDAQ: ADVNB; ADVNA) today
announced October's ideablob.com $10,000 monthly contest winner for the best business idea, as voted
on by the ideablob community. Tom Krieglstein, 27, of Chicago, IL received the most votes for his idea to
develop freshman orientation software that integrates with popular online social networks to match
college students with other students, groups and courses.
Krieglstein is co-founder of Swift Kick, a Chicago-based education company whose mission is to increase
student engagement through leadership, technology and community. He plans on using the $10,000
prize from ideablob.com to pay for hosting fees so his freshman orientation software, called Red Rover,
can be offered to schools at no cost.
Ideablob.com is an active community where participants submit business ideas as well as advise and
vote on them. Advanta, one of the nation's largest credit card issuers (through Advanta Bank Corp.) in the
small business market, awards a $10,000 monthly prize to the best idea, as determined by the voting.
"We are thrilled to award our first monthly prize to Tom Krieglstein of Swift Kick," said Ami Kassar,
Advanta's Chief Innovation Officer. "Tom is a great example of an entrepreneur who is utilizing the
ideablob platform to grow and promote his existing business, and take it to the next level."
"It's rewarding to know that the people Red Rover will help the most - students on social networking
websites - were our biggest contest supporters," said Krieglstein. "The powerful effect that social
networking sites could have on education is amazing, and we plan to unleash that power through Red
Rover."
The eight finalists who will compete for November's $10,000 contest prize will be announced on
ideablob.com on November 22, and the ideablob community will have approximately one week to vote for
November's best business idea. For information about past finalists and their ideas, please visit
