I've worked at two internet start-ups and am looking to strike out on my own. I believe there must be a better way to present oneself while networking and that's why I've started huyuno. When lookin…moreg for a job, it's all about Who You Know! huyuno!!! (Not "huy-uno"!) The concept of the company is, brace yourself, a social networking site for professionals akin to LinkedIn.com. LinkedIn is so ubiquitous and I wouldn't dream of competing with them for the uber-professional market of users they seem to value most. Instead I'd market younger professionals more active on the social web. To me, and I may be wrong, is LinkedIn is the equivalent of a .txt resume. Very boring, not very dynamic and certainly not generating as many page views as it could. I love Ribbit (look at this page: http://www.ribbit.com/presskit/assets/amphibian/amphibian_callerid2.0.jpg) because the social feeds page is so dynamic and engaging. I'd love to learn more about my contacts and interact with them on a deeper and more meaningful level. On LinkedIn it's as if I'm just keeping a dusty rolodex on my desk that I only flip through when I'm looking to change jobs. Or maybe I'm just a cycnic :) ! Certainly some members of the site wouldn't want to put themselves out there with social feeds but some will, and with the right privacy measures I think that it can be done well. So that's a synopsis of my idea - a more dynamic and engaging social networking utility for business professionals.
