I am originally from New Zealand where I was a general manager for a retail chain for over a decade. I have been in the United States for eight years and during that time I have been involved in managing two successful college business incubators. The Dartmouth Entrepreneurial Network begun in 2001 as a two-person start-up managing and advising start-ups. By the time I left in 2004, we had over thirty active teams, primarily involved in commercialization of post-graduate research. For the past f …view more ur years, I have been developing the entrepreneurial program at St. Olaf College. This is a unique undergraduate institution as we provide seed money and mentoring for students to begin businesses while on campus. This year my office awarded 7 grants to 11 students totaling $19,000. We have funded worthwhile projects from music recording, organic root beer, an organic nursery, a marketing business, an organic cookbook, a clothing and furnishings company and much more. I also teach courses in entrepreneurship, arts management, policy and strategy, and marketing at St. Olaf through the management studies program. Additionally, I am the President for the Northfield Enterprise Center which is a non-profit economic development organization for Northfield that supports new businesses.
